A Nice Autumn Moon

The other night I was struck how nice and clear it was outside. The kids were in bed, the air was cold, and the moon was stunning. I decided to take a quick photo. I made some mistakes with my last full moon picture, so I wanted to try again.

I took 12 individual videos of the moon, each consisting of 500-1000 frames. Each was stacked, then I stitched the whole thing, and sharpened the overall image in registax with wavelets filters.

I wanted to make sure I didn’t blow out any highlights and in doing so ended up taking a darker image than I should have. It took a bit of post processing to adjust the brightness to a god level. I probably lost some dynamic range in the image. It doesn’t look amazing zoomed in, but I’m very pleased with the overall image.
