Eclipse On Jupiter
/Thankfully this year Jupiter is higher in the sky, so there’s less air to look through. The last few years Jupiter has been hard to see in much detail, but with my new 5x barlow lens and the higher elevation I have high hopes.
Tonight I tried a few different shutter speeds, but the one that worked best was 8ms with a gain of about 450. I took a video for about 3 minutes, but it’s hard to keep the planet in frame and steady at such a high zoom level.
The final image is rivaling my best ever of Jupiter, the only way to improve this image with my current setup is to wait for better seeing conditions.
I was able to clearly capture 3 moons and even the shadow of a moon on the southern hemisphere! This is amazing clarity for me, I’m thrilled how much detail is visible in the cloud bands! I’m very excited to see what I can do with Mars with this setup!
