My new lens didn’t work out to improve my view of Mars enough to make a new map of the planet, but it still makes a gorgeous sight!

I got my first image of Mars for 2022. My new lens isn’t performing as well as I hoped, so this image isn’t as clear as I wanted, but any time seeing detail on Mars is fun!

I finally caught the ISS passing in front of a nearly full moon!

Tonight I get one of my sharpest images of Jupiter to date, and also happen to catch the shadow of one of the moons in the southern hemisphere!

Jupiter and Saturn are back! I’m working on dialing in my new 5x barlow lens, especially because that’s pushing the limits of what’s reasonable with my telescope.

After some software fixes I can take even more frames per second and got an amazingly crisp shot of the ISS.

The geostationary satellite XM-4 is drifting from the west coast over to the east coast. I caught the satellite on its journey as it passed Eutelsat 113 West A.

Tonight was my first time photographing the west coast SiriusXM satellites. I’ve now seen XM-5 on the east coast and the west coast!

After a day of snow flurries the clouds parted and revealed a stunningly clear space station!

I photographed the Apollo 17 landing site as well as the route that Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmidt drove on the lunar rover!

On a chilly morning I catch the space station and finish dialing in my exposures for my new barlow lens. Focus wasn’t perfect but the images are still great!

I couldn’t resist a cold and peaceful night with a beautiful moon.

Jupiter and Saturn are starting to go away, so I took advantage of a nice night to take one last look until 2022!

I finally have the exposure dialed in for the ISS with my 3x barlow lens. Now to wait for good weather and a nice high pass!

It’s been ages since I’ve taken the time to see a full moon. This image has a few issues, but the moon is simply a stunning thing to see up close!

I’m still experimenting with the proper exposure settings for the ISS with my 3x barlow lens. I think I finally got a good exposure, but bad seeing and bad focus killed the image.

With only 1 clear night to work with I was able to capture 3 satellites disappearing into the shadow of the Earth! This past spring I caught two, but the third one is the newly launched SXM-8! Last time I saw SXM-8 it was in a clean room!
